English language competence is a crucial skill for tourism practitioners in delivering services to international tourists, particularly in cross-cultural communication that requires clarity, politeness, and professionalism. However, preliminary survey results revealed that most tourism practitioners still experience limitations in English communication skills, including vocabulary mastery, speaking fluency, and self-confidence when interacting with international tourists. These limitations directly affect the quality of tourism services and may reduce international tourists’ satisfaction. Therefore, this community service program aimed to enhance the English language competence of tourism practitioners as a strategy to strengthen the quality of international tourism services. The community service program was implemented using a participatory and practical approach that positioned tourism practitioners as active participants in the learning process. The activities included service-based English language training, tourism service simulations through role-play, and continuous mentoring to reinforce the application of English skills in real work situations. A total of 40 tourism practitioners participated in the program and were evaluated using surveys and proficiency assessments conducted before and after the program implementation. The evaluation aimed to measure changes in participants’ English proficiency levels as well as their satisfaction with the community service program. The evaluation results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ English language competence after completing the program. The number of participants classified in the very low and low proficiency categories decreased substantially, while the number of participants in the moderate and high proficiency categories increased noticeably. In addition, the satisfaction survey results showed that participants responded positively to the relevance of the training materials, the practice-oriented learning methods, and the overall benefits of the program for their professional development. These findings demonstrate that a contextual and needs-based community service program can effectively improve the English language competence of tourism practitioners. Therefore, this program contributes to strengthening the quality of international tourism services and enhancing the capacity and professionalism of tourism human resources in a sustainable manner.
